Private Security Bargaining Council

The Registrar of Labour has approved the registration of a Bargaining Council for the Private Security Industry with effect from 01 July 2018. A wage agreement was reached with SATAWU in terms of which a 7% across the board increase was granted to SIRA members backdated to 01 April 2018.

As this has not as yet been extended by the Minister of Labour to non-party employers there is no obligation on employers to implement such an increase unless they are members of SIRA. The Minister has yet to publish the new minimum wage schedule for  non-SIRA  security employees under sectoral determination  No: 6 which will come into effect from 01 September, 2018.
