Emotional Intelligence for Leaders – 2 Days

This course is accredited by the Services Seta and material covers unit standards 252031 at NQF level 5 with 4 credits.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Emotional Intelligence is the single most important indicator in producing people who are able to work effectively in organizations at the highest levels. Longer term sustainability, requires that people go beyond I.Q. and develop their full E.Q.

This course is an invitation to go on a journey of self-awareness and develop effective and professional interpersonal skills. Furthermore the course helps you understand and manage your negative emotions and increase your resilience. In fact it is known that it is not the hardest working or most intelligent people who succeed, but people who have high levels of emotional intelligence and who are able to illicit the cooperation of their colleagues and lead and motivate teams of people.

Leaders who have a high level of emotional intelligence are able to take their leadership from a mediocre level to an outstanding level. If you want to take your leadership to a new level, emotional intelligence competence is critical to your progress.

Harvard Business Review says emotional intelligence is “the key to professional success.” A leaders job is to engage a team to do work beyond the capacity of any one individual. It is about enrolling people to utilize their full potential. This course helps leaders to become aware, authentic, passionate, and to act with integrity. This course will ensure leaders are able to build trust, commitment and alignment to foster an environment where people can bring their best to the table.

There is no formula for great leadership, no magical path to follow. A great leader makes her or his own path – one that is uniquely based on his or her own skills and attributes. You cannot imitate someone else’s style or use a prescribed set of behaviours. This course will help you to carefully assess yourself to know your own strengths and vulnerabilities.

The course looks at our work-life balance, the kind of lifestyle choices that we make, our attitude towards working life and asks questions about the impact that our lifestyle choices are having on our motivation, and our job engagement. We help delegates develop a range of tools and techniques for building their emotional intelligence and becoming great leaders of the 21st Century.
